Canton-i, Sunway Pyramid

I have tried out another eatery at Sunway Pyramid shopping mall (my weekend getaway!). Canton-I is a new restaurant and was opened early this year. It serves Hong Kong food. The place was packed eventhough it was only 6pm and it is something like a chinese style fast food. The waitress will give you the menu and the order form so you just tick in the form what you would like to order and passed it back to the waitress and few minutes later the food and beverages is served to your table...cool!

They serve the usual food like rice, noodle and even dim sum.

The restaurant is packed and I like the interior design where the lights are soothing and everything was pastel in colour. However, the space was bit tight due to accomodate more customers.

I ordered 'Sugar cane and water chestnut drink' and my hubby ordered 'Hong Kong Ice Lemon Tea'. Each cost Rm5.50. I thought my drink taste better though coz it was not that sweet ( I dislike beverages that are too sweet)

Egg Custard (3 pcs = Rm5.00)
I recommend to try out these yummy egg custards....one of the best so far. It was so good that I ordered some more to bring back home. The pastry is not thick (just nice) and the egg custard is so soft and rich....yumm

Mix meat combo with seafood and plain rice RM12.90
I was really satisfied with this dish that I ordered. The portion was just right for me and everything mix well together....it has roast pork, roast chicken, duck, smoked squid with herbal egg. The rice also tasted good with the soya gravy and the chilli at the side is sweet and non spicy. The rice is similar like the rice I tasted in Hong Kong (hmm....did they bring the rice all the way from Hong Kong or they have a secret way of cooking it?)

Honey glazed pork and japanese beef with noodle Rm13.90
I heard they import the noodles from Hong Kong (thats what their menu says). The pork and beef is yummy and tender especially the japanese beef tendon, and the noodles also tasted good.

The entrance of the Canton-I.
I really enjoyed the food and qurantee I will come back to try their other dishes.
Heheh...and yes they do have IKEA baby high chair.
It is located in the new wing of the shopping mall and I think its on the 2nd floor located between the Valentino clothing shop and Jaya Jusco.

Ying Ker Lou (Hakka Restaurant), Sunway Pyramid

Its the starting of a new year...the year of the ox 2009. So I decided to eat healthier and nutritious food (well..only for now). This time we went to one of my husband's favourite restaurant located at the Sunway Pyramid shopping mall call Ying Ker Lou restaurant. The chinese hakka restaurant serves home made autentic hakka food and does not use MSG or perservative to their food (thats why I emphazise healthy food). Furthermore, they only use alkaline water...which I think is good right?

The restaurant use copper teapot to serve the tea which I think makes the chinese tea tastes nicer.

The interior of the restaurant.
Yes...I did notice the stack of IKEA baby high chairs at the corner of the restaurant. The last time we came here with my baby boy, they even provided IKEA baby plates and fork and spoon for him. Isn't that nice.
Ying Ker Lou Fried Chicken RM16.00
The dish was still sizzling hot when it arrived at our table. The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The sweet chilli sauce was a perfect combination for the chicken.

We ordered the restuarant specialty which is Dong Jiang Tofu.
Its tofu stuff with mince pork and covered with bean sauce. It tasted good and was quite a big portion (well considering the price)...it cost RM20.00 for this dish.

Sweet and sour pork rib Rm 20.00
Not a sweet and sour pork that I had in mind but I was plesantly surprise with it. It of course did not come out like the typical type of sweet and sour pork (I assume because they did not use perservative or MSG) but it was slightly sweet and I like that they put in turnips in the dish.
Considering there were only two of us, the three dish was a bit too much for us. However, we enjoyed the meal and will come again for sure.
A tip: If you flash out your Jaya Jusco Membership Card (only applicable to Malaysians), the restaurant will give you a 10% off your total food cost. Great tip eh ;)

The Loaf at KL Pavilion

We decided to check out KL Pavilion situated in the heart of Kuala Lumpur which is the newest and trendiest shopping mall in town. I went to check out 'The Loaf' bakery at KL Pavilion which is owned by the former Malaysian prime minister Dr.Mahathir. There have 2 shops which is at level 2 and level 3. Unsurprisingly both places were packed with people maybe it was due to the curiosity to check it out (like me) or that the bakery stuff was really good.

The loaf bakery at Level 2. Upstairs is the 'The Loaf Cafe'

I bought a quiche lorraine (RM6.20)....my favourite!

Dark chocolate twist RM3.90

Dark choco Petiti RM2.20

Strawberry Petit RM2.20

The cute package, they will just slide the cover across the baked goods. So it was easy to carry and I notice when I was carry this in the shopping mall, a lot of passerbys noted my package and say .."hey thats from the loaf, lets go there". ..hmm a good marketing way to promote it as well.

My verdict of the bakery is that the baked goods are something different and taste nice but a bit pricey. However, people sometimes do not mind the price if the food is good.

Uncle Lim's Cafe at Subang Parade

Me, hubby, parents in law, aunt and niece went to Subang Parade Shopping Mall last weekend to start our christmas shopping since the Malaysian Saving Sale has just started. We had our early lunch at Uncle's Lim cafe which is a frequent place we go to whenever we visit Subang Parade. The cafe serves typical favoured malaysian cuisine such as nasi lemak, laksa, porridge and roti bakar (toasted bread with kaya and butter). My mother in law's loves this place because they serve good local coffee.

The way to order food is quite straight forward where you order your food and pay at the counter first and collect your beverages and later they will serve the food to your table. Fast and easy!

I ordered my usual drink which is soya cincau ice (soya bean with black jelly).
Price: Rm2.80

Nasi lemak with chicken rendang. Sambal and rendang sauce was just nice for me which is not too spicy.
Price: RM 8.60

Rice porridge.
I am not a fan of porridge but this porridge which was ordered by my husband's aunty taste good. It is thick and not watery
RM: 8.30

Uncle Lim Laksa. Spicy and sour...yum yum
RM 8.30

Roti Peanut (toasted bread with peanut butter)
Hubby do not feel like eating much so he ordered this.
RM: 1.90

It is an open cafe inside a shopping mall
Several empty bird cages hanging on the cafe's ceiling.
The food is good but we noticed that they have hiked up the price by Rm1 maybe due to the hike up of petrol prices few months ago. Maybe need to remind them that the petrol prices has went down.
Note: They have IKEA baby high chair so a good place to bring your toddlers along.

Secret Receipe in Malaysia

Me and my husband decided to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary at Secret Receipe. This restaurant is located at Bandar Puteri Puchong and serves good deserts like cheese cakes and brownies!

Interior of the resturant. Walls are covered with enticing pretty pictures of the food that they serve which makes it easier for customers like me to decide what to eat.
The counter where they display the cakes and cheese cakes

I ordered a beefball vietnamese noodle which is quite okay.
Price RM15.50

Alex ordered spaghetti bolognaise which is I think is one of the signature dish of secret receipe. Price around RM15

Hubby ordered a choco cheesecake.
Price: RM 6.50

Since this is a special occasion, I ordered my favourite brownie walnut....yum yum
Price: Rm 4.50
They serve a variety of food which is mixture of asian and western. The food is a bit pricey but the cakes are worth the price and the restaurant is very clean and yes...they have IKEA baby high chairs..hehe. However, the downpart is that their cokes has no gas where it was totally flat, I felt like I was drinking sweet gasless water. A good place to go if you are craving for something sweet or a good cheesecake!
